“Look after your Voloq Bags & Accessories …and they’ll look after you for years to come.”
Our products are designed so that they wear along with time and that adds to its character and appeal. But there will be instances when the product comes in contact with dirt, food items, oil apart from the usual travel wear & tear. Hence, product care for VOLOQ Bags is necessary & easy as long as you follow a few simple rules.
If you want to clean your bag thoroughly from time to time, for the outer surface; wipe clean the area with a dry cotton cloth or coat brush. For specific mud or dirt spot cleaning; the cotton cloth or sponge can be slightly dipped in cold water & rubbed on the spot gently. Re-wipe it with dry cloth & make sure the bag is dry before using.
Do not use detergent soaps. Do not hand wash, dry clean or machine wash the bag as it has wax coat on it and hence it is not advisable.
Our bags arrive at your door fully waxed and ready to use. Over time, you may want to re-wax your bag to maintain its water repellency. For that, you can contact us here.
CLEANING WAXED CANVAS FABRIC:
Waxed fabrics can be used for many years without washing. In the case of dirt or winter salt staining, soak a cotton cloth or sponge in a mixture of water & a bit of vinegar, while lightly brushing or scrubbing the area. A small amount of ammonia can be used on stubborn stains. Never use liquid or powdered detergent, and refrain from dry cleaning, which will remove the finish. Wear your waxed canvas often – it’s weather-tough.
CLEANING NON WAXED, NATURAL CANVAS FABRIC:
Remove blot stains using a damp sponge and a bit of soap. Repeat if necessary. Our “non waxed-canvas” bags can be washed on with gentle cold water, wrung out and hung to dry. Cold water will prevent the bag from shrinking. Our waxed canvas bags with vegan leather detailing should only be spot cleaned.
CLEANING VEGAN LEATHER:
For stains, spot clean by dabbing the affected area with a damp sponge and mild detergent or saddle soap. Dry it with a cotton cloth. For other marks, nail polish remover (thinner) can also be used in small quantities. Make sure not to use large quantity of “Thinner” as it may lead to discolouration of the vegan leather material.
KEEPING BAG IN SHAPE WHEN NOT IN USE:
When not in use, store your VOLOQ goods in the dust bag provided and stuff the bags with newspaper or tissue to maintain the shape. Preferably do not use plastic bags to store waxed canvas products.
CANVAS & VEGAN LEATHER BREATHING:
Please keep your VOLOQ Bags in cool and dry place. Do not store them in a plastic bag. Cotton Canvas is a natural product and must be able to breathe. In addition, the storage in plastic bags favours moisture accumulation or mite infestation and can completely ruin your noble product.
CARE IN THE RAINS:
Though VOLOQ products are water repellent; like we do for almost everything, avoid direct wetting of it in rains. Running into minor dash off is completely fine. In any case of water coming in contact with the bag, ideally just rub off the moisture with cotton towel and let the bag dry completely by itself (no hair dryer, no heating). To speed up drying, you can fill your purse with newspaper to absorb the moisture.
Please do not use any chemical cleaners to clean the VOLOQ products. Chemicals can attack the waxed canvas & vegan leather’s natural structure and cause significant damage to the product.
STRONG SMELL COMING FROM BAG?
The smell coming from the bag is sometimes caused by the process of producing the bag or from the time it spent in the shipment when it was being shipped. To get rid of the smell safely, we recommend placing a dry sheet or naphthalene balls inside the bag to absorb any odours and leave it for a few days. Alternatively, you could also air out, or keep the bag in open environment/sunlight for a few days.
